The Royal Golf Club is part of a a US$92 million golf resort that is considered to be the largest of its kind in Vietnam. It opened for play on January 9 2010 in northern Ninh Binh Province after two years of construction. The Yen Thang Lake 54-hole Golf Course, also known as Royal Golf Club, is developed by state-run real estate developer PV-INCONESS, a subsidiary of oil monopoly Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group. The 670 hectare complex is surrounded by the lush natural surroundings of the Yen Thang Lake in Tam Diep Town, about 100 kilometers away from Hanoi. It will eventually include three international standard 18-hole golf courses, two of which are designed for professional golfers, and a clubhouse, a five-star hotel, restaurants, shopping malls and villas. The golf resort also offers facilities for picnic, camping and water sport activities, from cruising to boat racing. The complex’s first 18-hole golf course, the Royal Golf Club is currently open for golfers while the remaining facilities are expected to come online in 2013.

Chi Linh Star Golf and Country Club -Chi Linh Star Golf & Country Club is one of the newest in Vietnam , opening in late 2003, and is located about half way between Hanoi and the popular Halong Bay, around one hour by car from either location. Chi Linh Star Golf & Country Club played host to the first Professional Golf Tournament in the north of Vietnam, the 2004 Carlsberg Masters Vietnam. The golf course is constructed in a beautiful valley, surrounded by forested hills, rolling creeks, lakes, and natural water hazards from the surrounding area. Playing conditions at Chi Linh Star are well kept year round. This golf club is a must play if you are visiting the Hanoi area.

Tam Dao Golf Resort - Tam Dao Golf resort is located high in the Tam Dao Mountains which allows for year round cool temperatures and gives Vietnam golfers the feeling of playing in Chiang Mai in the winter time. The 18-hole Tam Dao golf course uses the natural land contours and local flora and fauna to create a visual treat for golfers. Phoenix Golf and Country Club is actually composed of three separate and distinct 18-hole golf courses, each with their own special characteristics. Phoenix Golf Resort's original 18 holes is called the Phoenix Course and was designed by Ronald Fream, later Korean and Japanese international golf course designers added the other two layouts each with a bit of characteristics from each country. The Phoenix Golf Course - the original course and a very good test for players of all skill levels. Personally, this is the more interesting of the three courses and gets the most play. The Dragon Golf Course - more wide open than it's sister courses, this course will appeal to golfers of higher handicaps or those wishing to get a lower score. Really good design whereby all the holes flow from one to another. Some tricky ones though, so you have to hit accurate shots. Nice greens. The Masters Golf Course - while visually maybe the most appealing of the three courses, the layout seems to lack flow from one hole to another. Not a bad course though and worth a round when you are in the area.The club house and amenities are a bit overwhelming but very good. All the facilities and services are very well done with a lot of attention paid to details. Everything you would expect of a first class golf resort. As in most Vietnam Clubhouses, there is a wide variety of food and beverages to choose from from every area of the world including Vietnamese, European and Japanese.
