Phnom Penh is a charming city to explore yet far too many people rush through it in a day or two at the most. With its elegant colonial architecture, alfresco lifestyle and laid-back locals it retains an irresistibly provincial charm, we have added a few more days to allow for visiting many of the new shopping areas but to also add days trips out of the city to either the former capital - Oudong or a Mekong River cruise to Koh Dach - the silk weaving island. Of course your 3 rounds of golf during your stay may be played at any time of day.

Royal Cambodia Phnom Penh Golf Club - Close to the capital of Phnom Penh and only 8 kilometers from the Phnom Penh International Airport is the Royal Cambodia Phnom Penh Golf Club. The 7,075 yard golf course is spread out over 200 hectares and nestled in amongst rice paddies and coconut palms. Being so close to the capital it is a favorite with locals and expatriates.

The Cambodia golf course emphasizes environmental protection as has preserved many of the original land features and used native palms, flowers and bushes to make the course shine. Moreover, since some of the course plays through natural wetlands there are many birds that graze in the on-course ponds and streams.

The international standard golf course features 18 holes that are each unique. The course is rather flat yet it still provides a challenge with numerous sand and water hazards, including a large lake near the third hole. Four tee boxes allow for a wide range of distances to be played and welcome golfers of all levels. Water comes into play on 12 of the 18 holes and nice greenside bunkering promotes accurate shots into each of the undulated greens.

The large Royal Cambodia clubhouse combines the traditional Cambodian architecture with modern convenience. Facilities are adequate for most Cambodia golf visitors. The golf driving range is the largest in Phnom Penh and a good place to warm up before your round.

Cambodia Golf and Country Club - Another rather flst but interesting golf course about 20 minutes from the center of Phnom Penh. and winds through numerous rice paddies and coconut palms. It is quite popular among local dignitaries and foreigners living in Cambodia of which quite a few are members of the golf club. It offers a challenging round with numerous sand and water hazards and there is a large lake near the 3rd hole that definitely presents a problem. The golf course conditions are not up to the standards of the two championship courses in Siem Reap but rather on a par with golf courses opened up in Asia in the early 1990's.
